Barbara's champagne cake may be a trip down memory
lane for those who remember the "birthplace" of
Barbara's champagne cake, Barbara's Bakery. The bakery was
located on Ingersoll Avenue from 1948 until late 1996.
When people think of
Barbara's, they think of champagne cakes. Some bakeries claim to make
Barbara's champagne cake to boost their sales, but, unless on this
website, they do not have Barbara's champagne cake.
Barbara's
champagne cake has been a popular item for a reason. The cake has a
consistency similar to that of an angel food cake. Yet, it has a unique
flavor that is tangy but sweet. Mixed with layers of mousse filling, the
cake is a treat for all taste buds. It is not as sweet as a lot of cakes,
and that is what people like about it. Barbara's is a very light,
airy chiffon type of cake.
Barbara's is
no longer on Ingersoll Avenue, but has four
locations
to order and/or pick up in Urbandale, Grimes and Waukee.
What better time
than now to try a champagne cake for the first time or possibly even to
re-taste a memory from childhood? Either way, Barbara's champagne
cake is a delicious choice!
